Plant Maintenance

Kinsmen Engineering plant maintenance service

When companies such as Golden Bay Cement, Carter Holt Harvey and Juken New Zealand, need to shut down a plant for maintenance, they call on Kinsmen Engineering.

Kinsmen generally supplies six to ten highly qualified welders and fitters to complete replacements, upgrades and repairs during a typical two to six week shutdown.

To avoid costly delays, Kinsmen provides an efficient taskforce to carry out the shutdown. They check fittings, examine parts for wear and tear and inspect equipment for safety issues. Whether it's a meat plant, timber mill, concrete plant or fertiliser plant, Kinsmen can be relied upon to carry out all necessary plant servicing.

Guillotine and Pressing

Kinsmen Engineering guillotine and pressing service

Kinsmen Engineering is one of only a few engineering companies in the region able to fold and roll all sorts of angles and shapes of thick steel to make fabrication faster and cleaner. This manufacturing is especially sought after for ship repairs and transport manufacturing and repairs.

Their new guillotine can cut a full sheet of steel plate 3.4 metres across and 13mm thick. Shorter plates can be cut even thicker.

Unlike a traditional gas cutter, the guillotine is able to cut clean through and leaves a smooth finish.

Kinsmen can cut and shape all types of steel to suit the engineering requirements of any structure or job.

Metal Spraying

Kinsmen Engineering metal spraying service

Kinsmen Engineering uses the Eutectic Castolin TeroDyn System 2000 for its metal spraying needs. This system is Ministry of Transport approved and operates at a maximum temperature of 150°C which means it won't cause any distortion.

It is ideally suited where expensive shafts have either bearings or seals creating excessive wear on the shaft. Worn areas can be re-sprayed, eliminating the need for complete new shafts to be machined.
